My take on the IHOP perspective of the end times- part one.
Hi there!
Hope you find it interesting and worthwhile =)
-----
Part 1- brief Intro
The church worldwide has really benefitted from the central message of intimacy at IHOP, especially expressed through the bridal paradigm, which, to be honest has had its share of controversies. But by and large- expelling the false sensual interpretation of that theology (which IHOP makes very clear that they are opposed to; the bridal paradigm is about nearness to God's heart as expressed in the intimacy between bride and bridegroom); the whole "One Thing" focus- Psalm 24:7, gazing upon the beauty of the Lord- has encouraged and blessed the church worldwide.
With that said, if there's ever a segment of IHOPian theology that gets people jinxed up- it's undoubtedly their teaching on the book of Revelation, and their view of how the End time church will unfold.
Mind you, I haven't gone through the book entire chapter by chapter, verse by verse exegesis of Revelation yet- and I don't expect to even when I'm done in December, mainly because I'll have to stay on board for track II in January to see the completion of their teaching on Revelation. I'm only a few weeks into studying the book. But even before I possibly get into that, in my next post I want to make some points in regards to the End Times- namely my experiences growing up in church in regards to this topic, why it would better us as body of believers to be familiar with this book in some form or another, as a way of preparing ourselves for the eventual coming of Christ (whether in our lifetime or not), and as well as for living with a sense of urgency and purpose. Also just some softeners for those dead set against the Endtime theology of IHOP.
So stay tuned!
